London Metropolitan Police Buttons
Description

LONDON METROPOLITAN POLICE BUTTONS. REPLICATED BY THE ORIGINAL MANUFACTURER.

Diameter 24mm (1"). Domed and nickel/silver plated with a brass backing and looped eyelet. The front has the Queen Victoria Crown and the words "METROPOLITAN POLICE" in a circular band with a buckle and knot at the bottom. Made by Firmin and Sons ltd, the original manufacturing company.

These would be the correct buttons for police coats and tunics from 1844 – 1901. Ten (8 at front and 2 at rear) would be needed for swan tail coats (1844-1864) and frock coats (1864-1897). Fourteen (2 rows of 6, on the front and 2 at rear) are required for double breasted overcoats (1844-1901).
